Fotografiska

Known as one of the largest contemporary photography museums in the world, Fotografiska is a hot spot not to miss. In addition to their four major exhibitions each year and over 100 smaller ones, they also host photography workshops and courses. Located in the old customs house, the building itself flaunts its stunning Art Nouveau style and the upstairs café offers incredible views of the city.

Vasa Museum

The Vasa Museum is the most visited museum in Scandinavia and is home to the only preserved 17th century ship in the world. The ship sank on its first voyage in 1628 in Stockholm Harbor and was later discovered in 1961 and restored. The restoration showcases the splendor of naval craftsmanship of its era, and you can explore the ship itself, as well as other maritime exhibitions full of seafaring history.

Spiritmuseum

The quirky Spiritmuseum is exactly what the name describes: a museum devoted to alcohol, drinking song culture, and of course, tasting sessions. Learn about the history of various drinks, from beer to the traditional Scandinavian Aquavit, and enjoy a glass while exploring the exhibits.

ABBA- The Museum

Last but certainly not least, you can’t talk about Sweden without talking about ABBA. Among fabulous costumes, gold discs, and archival film footage, journey through the glamorous history of these pop icons and even perform with ABBA avatars, singing along to Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia. Get your tickets in advance- they sell out fast- and put on your boogie shoes and full body sequined jumpsuit.
