Your encounter with art?

I had studied classical music in my childhood and teen years. I was surrounded with great art books all my life and for the first time I saw Rubens, Vermeer and Rembrandt artworks I was hooked. My very first artwork, was a copy of Edward Munch´s “Scream”. However I moved away intentionally from figurative works and started to use the compositions of this great artworks in my non-figurative paintings. Compositions, color, depth and light but also a fascinating surface is important to me. I adore the color red and white…

Which techniques do you use?

Acrylic painting, assemblage . Kurt Schwitters used “MERZ” , found objects in his artworks…. I liked that technique too and I am using it. It makes my “abstract” works more connected to reality.

An artist or an artwork which particularly inspires you?

In the early 90s, I used to love all the modern artist. I was inspired by Dali, Dada, Kandinsky, Malevich, Yves Klein, Alberto Burri but I also adored almost all of the abstract expressionist artists. I met Helen Frankenthaler and Cy Twombly in person too. But then later I discovered Anselm Kiefer artworks, the fascinating surfaces of Lee Bontecou & Bram Bogart and Robert Rauschenberg combined paintings. Larry Poons, was one of my instructor in New York City. He left also a great impression on me. Recent contemporary artist I adore are: Florian Baudrexel, Jannis Kounellis, Bosco Sodi , Carly Brett and Halina Sayfidoniva.
