A Day With: Alexandre Delamadeleine

Alexandre Delamadeleine is a French photographer based in Paris whose work has been featured in international exhibitions and in publications like Lomography, Konbini, Fisheye, Lense Magazine, and Le Monde. Working in analogue film, Delamadeleine captures dreamy atmospheres and stunning portraits that play with symmetry and perspective, often emphasizing the delicate beauty of the natural world and the female body. In honor of his works being featured with Singulart at the Affordable Art Fair Hamburg, we asked Delamadeleine some questions about a typical day and his artistic practice.

Hello Alexandre! What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

A sun salutation. It’s a series of yoga postures related to breathing that cleanses me from the night and prepares me for my new day.

What inspires you to create every day?

The new day itself. To consciously observe that everything changes all the time is fascinating. It is the impermanence that inspires me. In Buddhist philosophy, this is called “anicca.”

What does your work space look like?

My office is the place where I relax. There is a table, a computer, and that’s it! I can think without other visual distractions.

Do you have any studio rituals?

When I work in the studio it is usually for commissioned work. I like to listen to my music.

Describe the core of your technique or style.

In my creative activities, my intention is to trust what manifests and be the vehicle of my spirit, without judgement.

How do you know or decide when an artwork is finished?

When I move onto another theme.

What do you like to do to unwind after a day’s work?

I like to see my friends.

What is your favorite part of the creative process?

To trust in intention.

Thanks, Alexandre! You can see more of his beautiful photographs on his artist profile.
