5 minutes with artist ALO

Italian artist ALO is one of the 30 artists participating in the Singulart Winter Flash Sale, taking place from the 17th of November to the 23rd of November. In this quick interview, we had the opportunity to discuss his inspirations and his colorful art.

When did you know you wanted to be an artist?

Since I was a teenager. I was into music, I started creating my own songs immediately after I learnt the first chords. Then I moved to painting at 21.

What do you think you would be doing if you were not an artist?

I’d be homeless.

How would you describe your art?

My art is a rebus where on one hand you have the solution right in front of your eyes, on the other hand, you’ll never get it, neither I.

What is your creative process?

Regarding the studio paintings, I work simultaneously on many artworks, building them step by step. About my urban art, I use the exact same technique I use indoors in terms of materials and tools, but the execution pace is different.

What is your next big project?

Painting big external walls mainly in London.

What is the favourite artwork you made?

They’re all sons and daughters to me, it’s difficult for me to choose one in particular.

Who is your favourite artist of all time?

Almost all from Caravaggio to Pollock, in particular caravaggio, but also Picasso and Matisse.

What is your biggest hope for the future?

For the world to go back to “normal”.

Can you describe your experience with Singulart?

My experience has been very good so far. I think the idea of a gallery, just online but with selected artists works very well since the online is the future in terms of spreading and sell art.

What advice would you give to young artists starting out?

To spend first most of their time creating in-studio first, then starting just to invest all their time in social media.

How would you describe the artworks you have made exclusively for this Winter Flash Sale?

The three artworks very different but also similar in a certain way, that work well one by one but also all together.
