Mr Brainwash

According to Banksy’s 2010 film Exit the Gift Shop, Thierry Guetta is a French-born street artist from Los Angeles who was first introduced to street art by his cousin, a street artist. Invader who rented street performers until 2000 and became an artist in his own right a few weeks after Banksy’s advice. However, Banksy insists on their official website that Exit Through the Gift Shop is genuine and that Guetta is not Guetta.

Banksy allowed him to film with the proviso that his identity would be hidden from the public. Collectors first met the artist in the hugely popular documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, directed by renowned graffiti artist Banksy. Both artists decided to make a documentary about the world of street artists, which remains a mystery to this day.

It was pop art mixed with street art and a bunch of images borrowed from other famous artists – from Mona Lisa to Warhol’s Campbell soup –. This show included large-scale oil paintings and sculptures, including a three-story Mona Lisa with a coat of arms. Mr. Brainwash also gave artists the chance to take part in the show and donated over 20,000 square feet of space to display donated work from around the world.

A provocative figure in the street art world, Mr. Brainwash practices a disrespectful form of appropriation characterized by the use of copyrighted images of history, popular culture, and art history.

He came to the United States with his family many years before he became one of the largest and most confused personalities in contemporary art. Famed for his highly publicized exhibition and Banksy documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, the French artist Mr. Brainvosh once owned a clothing shop named Thierry Guetta.

Mr. Brainvasch (real name Thierry Guetta) is a French street artist known for his collaboration with Banksy in the 2010 Academy Award-nominated documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. After years of filming his cousin Banksy and Shepard Fairey from Space Invader, he set his camera down and quickly became one of the most prolific street performers in the world.

At the age of 15, Thierry Guetta moved to Los Angeles with his family, where he currently lives and works in his secret laboratory. Thierry Guetta was owner of a vintage shop in Los Angeles before becoming an artist. Many people think that Mr. Brainwashing is behind Banksy’s hidden identity.

As he developed his filming skills, Mr. Brainwash started recording the nightly adventures of the Invader and other street performers such as Shepard Fairey whose OBEY posters appear in many cities around the world and the mysterious Zeus. At the time there were no plans to release videos documenting the work of graffiti artists. And when a new generation of artists was born using stencils, posters and stickers, Thierry was there to record every moment.

Born obsessed with a constant passion for graffiti, he then traveled to Los Angeles and arranged a meeting with Shepard Fairey, known for his work in the Obama campaign and one of the most prolific street performers in the world. Mr. Brainwash started licking up streets in 2006 with stencils and posters of his favorite icons, quickly becoming a well-known figure in the burgeoning street art scene.

Thierry Guetta, known professionally as Mr. Brainwash, was born in 1966 in Garges-le-Gonesse, France and moved to Los Angeles with his family when he was 15 years old, after his mother died, when his first screening of Life Is Beautiful was opened on 18 June 2008 in Los Angeles, California and premiered at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
