With desert peakes piercing the sky and the thin blue ribbon of the Dead Sea shining in the distance, ghostly figures of about 200 men and women, from head to toe, began to appear from behind the spurs.

The artists’ exhibition will also include individual portraits from around the Dead Sea as well as unpublished photographs of a group of 30 women who attended a nude photo shoot at Ein Gedi and Ein Bokek Falls. In 1992, Tunick began filming live nude bodies in public places in New York City by using video and photographs, his early works from this period are more focused on a single nude person or small groups of nude people. Tunick cites 1994, when he posed and photographed 28 nude bodies in front of the United Nations Headquarters in downtown Manhattan, as a turning point in his career. “It all started when I moved from simple photography to installation and performance photography.
Since 1994, Tunic has been arrested 5 times while trying to work outdoors, 3 times in New York. Spencer Tunick was born in Middletown, Orange County, New York to a Jewish family.
