For our second installment, we’re escaping the cold winter of Paris for some Californian sunshine. It turns out LA isn’t just home to wannabe actors and green smoothies – there’s limitless offerings of art to be explored, too! Read on to discover the destinations you should note down to get the best out of this diverse, vibrant city.
1. The Broad
Beginning our lucrative list this week is LA’s new kid on the block – The Broad. From Basiquiat to Barbara Kruger and Jeff Koons, Eli and Edythe Broad’s museum offers some of the best contemporary American art out there. Having opened its doors in 2015, it’s already made its way to the top of many must-see lists – including ours.
And the best part? Admission is free!

2. MOCA
MOCA’s (Museum of Contemporary Art) main branch – also known as the Geffen Contemporary, houses masterpieces from artists like Rothko, Lichtenstein and Kline, to name a few. Curating some of the most outstanding pop art and abstract expressionist works, as well as prime examples of minimalist and post-minimalist art, you can mark LA’s MOCA as a must-stop on your map.

3. The Getty
What started as an extended wing of J. Paul Getty’s hilltop home is now one of La La Land’s most famous artistic landmarks. It’s not everyday you can peruse prominent art in a building that boasts breathtaking views of the Californian coastline while simultaneously feeling as if you’re in the middle of a Sci-fi set. With easy transport links back into Downtown LA, make the most of this impressive architecture and the fantasticartworks it contains.

4. LACMA
With collections also funded by the Broad family, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art was established in 1961. The largest art museum in Western USA, its walls are lined with iconic pieces from ancient times all the way up to the modern day. With artists including Diego Rivera, Henri Matisse and David Hockney, it’s no surprise that one million visitors walk the halls of LACMA every single year. Don’t miss the museum’s most popular art installation –Urban Lightby Chris Burden.
