Hockney was a distinguished academic at the Royal College of Art after a distinguished career as an award-winning student and achieved international success when he was 20. Hockney rose to prominence with the Gold Medal of the Royal College of Art in London at the age of twenty-five and quickly became one of the defining figures in the British pop art movement. Hockney moved to California in the late 1960s and established himself as a prolific visual and landscape painter.
